Meet Coach Damien Skelling
Back in 1965 I was introduced to the sport of bowling and began bowling in my first league that September. This began the journey where I fell in love with the sport and have made lots of friends over the years.
There are so many great memories I have had over the years, but one of my best moments was achieving my first 700 series with a 779. I keep coming back as I truly enjoy the game and still want to continue to improve.
In 1992 I decided that I wanted to give back more to the sport, and this is when I started coaching. Over the last 20 years, I have been a facilitator with the coaching program. Completing all coaching levels in addition to being involved in the new coaching development program. It brings me great joy to support bowlers that want to coach and are passionate about learning and growing with the sport.
I’m proud to say I was a coach with the Canadian National Team from 2006 to 2015 (9 years). Managing the adult team for 5 years and coaching for the youth team for 4 years. I had the pleasure of traveling to many international events with the teams, learned a lot, and met some amazing people.
My goal over the next bowling season is to help the kids I’m working with win a medal at provincials.
Meet Coach Stephen Wong
I have been coaching 10-pin bowling since the early 1990’s. Always associated with a youth program at various bowling centers over the years. Starting at Tolworth, United Kingdom, then Sudbury, Ontario, and Calgary, Alberta. The question that interests me the most is — how do one bowls at one’s best, both physically and mentally. If you would like to learn more about bowling, let’s figure out these bowling mysteries together.
